The meeting was called to
order at 7:00 pm by President Winslow. Susan Rosapepe was introduced, and spoke
briefly about her plans for improving communications between KRL and the
public; it was agreed that FOML would try to help keep her informed of
activities and public relations efforts we make.
Minutes of the previous
meeting were approved.
Correspondence:
FOL newsletters from other groups, birthday greetings from Ellen Newburg and
Mary Margaret Cromarty
Treasurer’s report: new CD established. report approved.
Penny jar: $19.52
received, total over $1889.
Branch Manager’s report: Attached. Discussed the expense of the NW program
evening, caused mostly by the travel expense of the singer, and lessons learned
from that event.
Bookstore report: Store sales are a little under expected averages, but still strong. Next
sale is November 17. Carol asked if the group wanted to try listing books on
Alibris, for $20 a year, and it was approved to try that for one year.
Newsletter: Next
issue around 1 December.
Facilities Manager report: Mark reported
working on the front door lock; may need further work. Attempting to get ramp
for shed provided free of charge. Carol reported that Hank Tingley has agreed
to cut the west slope again this fall.
Gardens: Next
weeding event October 12 at 9:30 – everyone’s help is needed for this fall
clean up event. Plant replacements will be set in, and many “surplus” plants
that have seeded themselves will be dug out for use at the plant sale. The
hoses have been put away for the season – next year a better cover will be
needed for the connector hoses, to improve safety. The agreement with the Long
Lake Garden Club has been signed; the monthly joint weeding events are working
to keep the gardens in good condition. The Fish Called Wanda Fuca has been
moved to the bed under the meeting room windows. It might be advisable to make
the sculpture’s support rod look stouter, to discourage vandalism.
Old Business:
1) Closed items from 8/22/07
meeting: fence panels received; furnace
maintenance done; books priced; newsletter items received and published;
tickets for Oct 11 event printed; 9/26 reception held; thank you letter to

input from KRL
3) Discussed October 11th
wine tasting; there are 60 tickets printed, and about a dozen have sold so far
4) We still do not have a
plant sale manager
5) Dee and Carol will look
into a design and bids for book bags
New Business:
The November meeting is moved
to November 28, and there will be no meeting in December.
Mark reported that Kiwanis is
interested in leading the Manchester Days event, since it’s a fundraiser for
them as well. KRL would have a booth, and FOML could have a booth and sell root
beer floats.
Meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm.
Next meeting: Wednesday, October 24, 2007 from 7 to 8:15 pm in the library
meeting room.
Respectfully submitted,
Carol Campbell, Secretary
