Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as written.

Correspondence: There was a newsletter from E. Bremerton and an invitation from KRL to the Friends appreciation luncheon in Poulsbo at 9:30-1:30 on Thursday April 9th.

Treasurer’s report: We have had heavy spending this month with furnace repairs and carpeting.  Our year to date spending exceeds income by approximately $12,000.  The overall account balance is $94,260.  The IRS form 990 is in the review process and the State non-profit report is due later this year.

Branch Manager’s report: See separate attachment.

Bookstore report: Our next special book sale will be with the plant sale, April 18.

Newsletter: Next issue will be out prior to the Salmon Bake.

Facilities Manager report:  John reported installation of the CO detectors (2) and the Knox Box (Fire Dept key access).  The flagpole will be repainted in the near future.  We suffered several breakdowns of the furnace in March and after discussion on the topic, we agreed to replace the furnace and do the required ducting for the new office; the cost will be slightly less than $4,000.  Carol will coordinate the furnace replacement.

Gardens: The next work party will be 4/10 and a sign-up list was routed around the table.

Building Committee: Progress has been slow on the expansion due to Dale’s workload.  Eric will request that the wall be moved outward prior to the Salmon Bake on 6/21.

Port Advisory Committee: Steve reported that permitting for the welcome sign is ready.  It was agreed to send a check for $2100 to Dalton Signs, on behalf of the Port, to begin construction of the sign.  We also authorized Ray Pardo to spend up to $500 to create banners for Salmon Bake, Plant Sale, and Book Sale.

Plant sale (4/18): Ron passed around a sign-up list.  Set-up will begin at 7:00AM with the sale running 9-3.  On 4/4 there will be a “basket party” at the Radas’.  Replacement of several of the 8’ tables was discussed and we decided to have the Weixlers procure six more tables for less than $1000.

Salmon bake (6/21): All proceeding well.  Next meeting will be 4/22.  Salmon portions will be increased by about 17% and volunteers are being sought to help with all aspects (contact John W).

Old Business: The raffle for the ship in a bottle for the Manchester sign fund was discussed and it was determined that only $1 tickets should be used.  Ray discussed data he is gathering on a new building project; these efforts will continue.  Carol said that she is pursuing the on-demand water heater installation.  Ray has found a potential PA system for “movie nights” that costs ~$400 and will review the system this month.

.

New Business: Eric announced our recognition of Jean Gardipe as “Special Friend of the Manchester Library”; congratulations Jean!!!  Connie announced the LLGC plant sale on 5/16.  John mentioned the 5/19 South Kitsap Fire & Rescue Levy and it’s importance to the Manchester community.  Copies of the Treasury audit were distributed by Rich and will be reviewed at the 4/22 meeting.

.

Meeting adjourned at 8:29 pm. Next meeting: Wednesday, April 22 from 7:00-8:15 PM in the Library meeting room.

Respectfully submitted,

John Winslow, Secretary
