Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as written.

Correspondence: Newsletter from the East Bremerton branch.

Treasurer’s report: Carol mentioned that West Sound Bank had recently been taken over by Kitsap Bank and as a result, several of our CD’s will be paying a lower interest rate.

Branch Manager’s report: Please see the separate report.  Susan mentioned that the KRL attorney considered our recent request by a patron for information on how our meeting room users.  There is a KRL policy for such requests, and we will generally follow the approach by KRL per their form dated 9/2007.

Bookstore report: The store business is slow.  Our next sale will be with the Salmon Bake, June 21.

Newsletter: The next issue is available for publication.  Carol will be unable to continue as editor, so another volunteer was solicited.  Ray agreed to edit the next newsletter with a publishing target set for the end of the summer.

Facilities Manager report:  John thanked the Cisneys for help in lowering/raising the flagpole for its new paint job prior to Memorial Day.  We still need to find an improved halyard and cleat lockbox for the flagpole.

Gardens: Our next weeding day will be June 12th at 9:30AM and volunteers are always needed.

Building Committee: Eric has nearly completed the reinforcing bar for the concrete pad and has lined-up volunteer help for the wall framing.

Port Advisory Committee: Steve said there will be a Port of Manchester celebration on Saturday August 29th, along with a complimentary “hot dog feed” paid with funds generated by the PAC/MCC/MCA/FOML volunteer 7/5 Port clean-up.  We’ll have a sign-up list for volunteers at our 6/24 FOML meeting.  Steve also mentioned that the Port is considering annexing adjacent precinct which are not currently affiliated with a Port district to provided added revenues and they need volunteers to get petitions signed by 500 people prior to 8/1 to include this in the November election.  The Manchester welcome sign has been installed at the intersection of Colchester and Mile Hill; donations are still being accepted and there will be an associated raffle for a ship-in-a-bottle at the Salmon Bake and other venues.  Tickets for the raffle will be $1 each and the raffle prize will be awarded on 9/12 at the Plant Sale/Book Sale.

Plant sale (9/12): It was decided that we would have a small-scale fall plant sale on 9/12.

Salmon bake (6/21): Some volunteers are still needed, purchases nearly complete.  John Winslow will be the acting chair of the event from 6/18-the end!  New Salmon Bake hats will be available for $20 and aprons for $15.

Old Business: All actions were completed except: Carol will continue to monitor the potential lead issue with books (especially children’s’) older than 1986 which we may sell and Ray will continue to pursue the PA system for movie nite.

.

New Business: Ron Rada reported that the MCAC held its first meeting and all future meetings will be 4th Thursday.  We will review the meeting room policy to determine whether the group should pay for the meeting room space.  Eric is our representative to the MCAC.  Carol volunteered to pick up the collections in the box at the Manchester Inn.  Joan said that our date for the wine/chocolate tasting at Puget Sound Wine Cellars has been confirmed as 8/30 2-5PM.  John asked whether we should try to sponsor 3rd Grade visits to the Library by Manchester Elementary and South Colby Elementary schools; Sue Whitford will investigate what the cost would be.  Eric decided that our November/December meeting will be held on 12/2.

.

Meeting adjourned at 8:25 pm. Next meeting: Wednesday, June 24, 2009, from 7 to 8:15 pm in the library meeting room.

Respectfully submitted,

John Winslow, Secretary
