Draft Minutes for MCC meeting of 9/25/07

 

Minutes:

The meeting was called to order by Chair, Ron Rada at 6:35PM in the Manchester Library.  Ron welcomed the 9 people (including 9 current members) in attendance.

 

Foundation Program announcements:

Manchester Community Association: Debby Trudeau reported that the MCA will hold another street clean-up event on Saturday September 29th.  The group will meet at the Elementary School at 8:45AM.  They will target the following streets for clean-up: California, Alaska, and Chester.

Manchester Historical Society: No report.

Manchester Foundation: The next quarterly meeting will be held on October 18th  (subject to change due to conflict with LID#9 meeting).

Crime Prevention and Public Safety Group: Bud Larsen reported recent speakers on Fire District consolidation, Port resolutions, and Sheriff’s Community Relations officer.  Bud also reported that the Port ramp extension has been delayed due to piling issues.

 

Business meeting:

Review and approval of past meeting’s minutes: This was deferred due to lack of a quorum.

 

Correspondence: The only correspondence was a bill for annual use of the PO Box for $40.

 

Reports:

Treasurer: Debby Trudeau reported a treasury balance of $1036.99.

 

Sewers Sub-Committee: Ron Rada reported that the County will conduct a meeting on the proposed LID#9 on 10/18 at 7PM in the Library.

 

MCC Action Groups:

-Downtown Design: Carrilu Thompson reported that the County will hold a hearing on the Manchester Plan update within a few weeks.

-Historic Village Character: No report.

-Partnerships with other Agencies: Debby T. said that the County is in a major budgetary crisis.  There will be a number of community meetings on the subject and Debby encouraged us all to attend the meetings and help the Commissioners understand where we think cuts can be made.

-Village Commons: The next meeting of this group will be Thursday 10/5.

 

Old Business:

            There was no old business.

 

New Business:

            There was no general new business.

 

Topics from the floor: John Winslow reported that the Friends of the Library would hold a 60th Anniversary reception for the Library on September 26th.  There will also be a special wine tasting party on October 11th to further fete the special anniversary.

 

There being no other discussion from the floor, Chairman Rada adjourned the meeting at 7:10 PM.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday October 23rd at 6:30-8:30PM in the Manchester Library. 

Ron Rada and John Winslow will jointly develop an agenda for our next meeting for distribution with the reminder, several days before the meeting.  If you have any additional items for the agenda, contact John Winslow prior to 10/12.
