11-27-07 MCP&PSG WEEKLY COFFEE & DISCUSSION 6:45AM, MANCHESTER FAMILY INN

Attending were Joe Blazevich, Paul Gilligan, Ron and Joyce Rada, Bud and Wanda Larsen, and Peggy Warren.  A good turnout for a really COLD early morning, windshields frozen, and BRRRRR all over.   We had scheduled group member Duane Miller and a Citizen's on Patrol official.   We just had a good visit with many things to talk about.   Everyone had recovered (more or less) from the busy Thanksgiving holiday.    We will make arrangements to have COP join us again on a date in the near future.    Be sure to use the COP services when you need a vacation watch for your home.  They do an excellent job in keeping your property secure.   In fact they do such a good job, that when Bud and Wanda were delayed getting out of town for the Thanksgiving week,  COP showed up in front of the house, called and asked us what we were still doing there?

No report yet from our By-Laws Committee.    The Manchester Foundation will be meeting next Thursday evening at the Library, following the 6:30 MCC Executive Board Meeting.  In put from that meeting will enable us to move forward with the by-laws and other matters.

ANNOUNCEMENT:    This evening (11-27) 6:30PM regular monthly MCC meeting at the Library.  Nominations for Officers for the coming year will be forthcoming.  They will be reviewing the outcome of the Monday 11-26th Board of County Commissioners meeting.  The main topic of business will be their review of our subarea plan and after all this is what the MCC has been working on for the past several years.

Bud announced that some of the guests we will have to come in the months ahead include representative of GIS Kitsap Public Works, Mr. Davis who represents the public schools security programs, someone from Animal Control, and Lt. Collins of the Sheriff's Department.    In January our own Mary Cathern Edwards will be bringing us up to date on Disaster Preparedness programs available to us.   This along with our on-going Neighborhood Watch endeavors will keep all of us busy throughout the winter months.  We urge anyone who is interested in Neighborhood Watch, to contact Bud at 360-769-8793.   Bud has completed annual contacts for the entire Daniels Loop area, as well as his area Central Manchester group and is helping out with Carol Kowalski's area Manchester South.    Everyone is asked to make as many contacts as you can before and during the holidays.  A good way to keep everyone up to date on safety practices as well as extending holiday greetings.

Group member Joe Guariz is recovering from a nasty leg injury resulting from stepping off a boat on to the dock.  He is down in bed for at least 6 weeks following surgery to repair torn muscles in his leg.    As active as Joe is that has to be a hard one, so drop him a card or give him a call.

EVENTS YOU WONT WANT TO MISS !

December 7th  approximately 8:05 PM, the well received ARGOSY CHRISTMAS SHIP will be visiting our Manchester waters with music and lights.   With David and Linda Denniston off on a second honeymoon, they will no be here to take charge of the bonfires, and other special plans for the event.  We were unable to coordinate the ARGOSY arrival with our annual Christmas Tree Lighting at the Library, so we will have the Tree lighting on Saturday, December 8th at the Library.    This was due to previous schedule commitments.

For the ARGOSY event, anyone having dry wood to donate for a huge bonfire is asked to contact Phil Paquette nucphil@earthlink.net, Phil represents the Manchester Community Assn.   With the usual inclement weather for this event, you are being asked to cover the wood with plastic when you deliver it, to keep it dry.    ARGOSY does a terrific job on this and our special thanks to our local neighbor , Dick Cook for confirming arrangements to have them here on the 7th.    We are all enthusiastic about this special event and it behooves us to do all we can to keep it going as an annual event for Manchester.

More information later on the December 8th tree lighting at the library.  A tree has been secured and getting it relocated, guy-wired and up is being done by Phil Paquette.   If you have large DURABLE decorations, they are always needed as rain and winds have an annual toll on the tree decorations.    Due to prior scheduling, the Kitsap Fire & Rescue team along with Santa Claus will be unable to join us this year.   Lets have a big turnout and bring the kids.  Mark your calendar right now.
