3-4-08 MCP&PSG
WEEKLY COFFEE & DISCUSSION MEETING 6:34AM, MANCHESTER FAMILY INN
Attending were Joe Blazevich, Paul Gilligan, Bob Edwards, Joe Guariz, Richard Dillworth, Peggy
Warren, Bud and Wanda Larsen. Excused were Joyce and Ron Rada, and Ray Pardo, out of town. An update on the North Kitsap
Burglary Gang was reviewed. An additional suspect has been arrested and
three more are wanted. Kitsap County Sheriff's detectives and patrol
deputies continue with their investigation into the high volume of property
crimes that have victimized residents of all communities within North Kitsap.
Bud reviewed contacts that
were made within the past week with Puget Sound Partnership,in relation to stormwater
issues within Manchester.
What we are hearing is that at this point in time, the PSP is a broad
based effort that includes all of Puget Sound
and does not address specific local issues such as we have had from the
December 500 year storm. We have been advised that we need to take this
directly to the Kitsap County Commissioners for any action. We will
continue to do research and with other groups in the Community, attempt to put
together a special committee to prepare proposals and documentation for the County Commissioners.
At the present time, we are not on the County's TIP list for any storm related
relief until the year 2014 as mentioned by Mr.
Tucker recently. We will continue inquiry
with both State and Federal organizations and will keep you advised.
Ray Pardo, was not present today
and we will discuss his ideas for a 3-way approach to some of the stormwater outfall issues, as soon as possible upon his
return.
NOTICE:
following a dog biting issue on Alaska
last week that resulted in some pretty severe bruising, etc. Arlene
Brennan is on the mend. She stated it's not so much the pain inflicted,
but knowing her daily walks are subject to attack in more than one spot on Alaska avenue.
Animal Control has been advised, meantime walk with
caution on Alaska Avenue.
The rest of today's meeting
was in regards to ideas, suggestions concerning different proposals of the port facilities user survey
ideas. It was determined that we would not take any proposals
to next Monday Port
of Manchester Commissioners
meeting. It is a known fact that Manchester is growing, parking is becoming an
issue, etc. Finally it was determined that Joe Guariz
will speak for the MCP&PSG on Monday evening to see what interest there
would be in a brief question and answer discussion with boaters and park
visitors. We have numerous volunteers who would be on hand to
conduct the actual survey on 3 or more separate weekends during the busy use
periods of the summer, as representatives of the Port of Manchester.
It was noted that the Port Commissioners have
not completed the contract agreement for office services with the Manchester
Water District staff. A handout to participants in any
official capacity could include an introduction to participants as well as a
copy of the Port Rules & Regulations that are posted at Pomeroy Park
and at the boat launch. This would make boaters and park visitors
more aware of what rules have been established and can be enforced by the
Kitsap County Sheriff.
We urge everyone who is
interested in our Community, and all organizations, to attend the next Port
meeting. That is 7:00PM, next Monday evening March 10th, at
the Manchester Library. Manchester is ON THE MOVE at this time, you hear this more and more. We have 2 new ly
elected Commissioners and longtime Commissioner Jim Strode on line with
some positive ideas and concepts for Manchester.
