"Women's Night Out" at the Library

The Friends of the Manchester Library and Go Figure! joined forces last week to bring us the first "Women's Night Out" event, held at the Library on March 30th.  It was a very successful evening, with about 50 ladies turning out for the festivities. There was plenty of food and laughter, along with door prizes and other gifts. The ladies learned how to make bath balms, salts and scrubs, and then heard from Stephanie Goodin, a licensed massage therapist, on reflexology, and Patricia Grimes on the values of meditation.  The ladies were then treated to live entertainment from Nancy Stewart, who performed her "In Celebration of Women," a set of hilarious songs about everything from bunions and motherhood to doing the laundry.  Everyone had a great time, and they are hoping to be able to do more events like this in the future.

Manchester Historical Society

The Manchester Historical Society is up and running, and will be meeting on the fourth Tuesday of the each month from 4-6 pm.  If you're interested in getting involved in the Manchester Historical Society, they would love to have you join their meetings. People are encouraged to bring historical photos, articles or a good historical story to share.

Emergency Preparedness Meeting - May 9th - 7:00 pm

The Manchester Crime Prevention / Public Safety Group (MCP/PSG) is planning a meeting that will feature Elizabeth from Kitsap Energy Management, where she will outline the County's program for earthquake preparedness.  Due to the larger crowd expected for this very informative topic, this meeting will be held at the Elim Church and will be open to all members of the Church and the community.   More information will follow on this important session, please mark your calendars and plan to be there.  We all think we know exactly what to do in case of an earthquake, but are we actually prepared to care for ourselves for several days to a week or more?  Are we prepared to assist our immediate neighbors?  This event can give us a heads-up on what we CAN do to be prepared.  In addition to the meeting on May 9th, they will be having a preparedness booth at the Salmon Bake on Father's Day, and another at the Manchester Festival in August.
